Užgavėnės (Shrove) 16. February 2010

Užgavėnės is one of the most entertaining days in Lithuania, marking the end of the winter and the beginning of Lent. Traditionally all day through, the streets are live with people in masks and costumes, who in the evening burn down Morė - the symbol of winter and lifeless nature.
Celebration will take place in Vilnius, Rumsiskes Open Air Museum and Trakai.

Kaziukas Fair 5.-7. March 2010

The festival is dedicated to St. Casimir -the patron saint of Lithuania born in the 17th century. The main idea of the event is the change of seasons – the time to banish out the winter and welcome the first signs of spring. The celebration today is more like a festival of folk art, crafts, music and dance, and attracts tens of thousands of people, as well as many craftsmen from all over the country. Traditional palms called Verbos made of colourful dried flowers and herbs are the fair’s trademark.
